Carolina G. Tijerina

I am married to Luis R. Tijerina also known to others as Wolf or Chief.  We both are sun dancers at the Rosebud Reservation in St. Francis, South Dakota, a Lakota ceremony.

I am a mother of 2,  Deriek Joseph McDowell, my son, is 26 and is married to Joli and they have 2 children, Jaxon 3 and Harper 1.  I also have a daughter, Megan Rhea McDowell who is now 22 years old and single.  Luis and I have a grandson, Austin 2.

I love to travel and relax.  I also have a strong desire to acquire knowledge and understanding   American Indian cultures and ceremonies.  I was told by my maternal grandfather that we had Comanche blood.  After my paternal grandmothers death I learned she had Kickapoo bloodline and through my paternal grandfather we had Seminole Indian blood.  I thank my ancestors for our lineage. I thank my friends who come from all walks of life for their love and respect.

I have been a member of the Trans-Pecos American Indian Association for the past six years and I am the vendor coordinator for the Permian Basin Intertribal powwow.  I was elected Treasurer for the Board of Directors in 2008.
